No education is complete without the inclusion of sports in its curriculum. Life skills that a child learns in a sports field help him to build confidence and lay a strong foundation for overall personality development.
At Modern Vidya Niketan, Aravali Hills, sports form an integral part of the curriculum as great emphasis is laid on developing a healthy life style. We promote healthy eating habits in our children by providing diet charts. To improve nutrition, the school cafeteria offers healthier food options. Regular monitoring of the BMI (Body Mass Index) of the students is a part of the school health services.
We believe in raising a healthy and smart generation by inculcating sports as a part of the curriculum right from an early age. To do this, our tiny tots have a specially designed, fully equipped play area all to themselves.
Our school is privileged to have the facilities for training students in various outdoor sports by skilled trainers which help the students to make their mark in these sporting events at different levels. An all-weather temperature controlled swimming pool adorns the already beautiful landscape of the school. The campus is also equipped with a state-of-the-art skating rink, a football field, two basketball courts, two volleyball courts, lawn tennis courts and various other indoor sports infrastructure. Students are also encouraged to participate in indoor sports like table tennis, chess, carrom and aerobics from primary level which helps in developing their cognitive skills and agility. We have state of the art equipment for gymnastics like balancing beam, parallel bar and floor mats. We have special coaching facilities for children beyond school hours.
The school provides exposure to students through a number of sports events at interschool, district, state and national level. Also, inter-house and intra-school sports competitions are major school events.
In the current scenario, with students confined to homes, nurturing the physical and mental health is even more important. Therefore, online fitness classes are organized for the students including exercises, aerobics, skipping, book balancing, hoopla, dribbling etc. Special online yoga sessions are also held daily for the students’ mental and spiritual well being.
Thus, along with the academic excellence, focus of the school curriculum is also to provide quality training in various sports, for it provides great opportunity to children to get active and channelize their pent-up energy in a positive way. Indulging oneself in sports and games go a long way in building one’s character and personality.
