ROLE OF DISCIPLINE

On a mundane Monday, when Riya was getting ready to go to her work, she heard her dog Bruno bark. She thought he would stop barking in a few minutes. But she was wrong. The barking continued. This time it was louder and fierce. When she rushed out of the door, she saw Bruno sitting in the backyard and barking at school kids who were throwing stones at him. Once the school kids saw Riya, they ran away. At that very moment, Riya thought, “Why don’t students possess the quality of self-discipline these days?”

‘Through self-discipline comes freedom’. These words are apt for the situation. If those kids were disciplined, they wouldn't have found the reason to run. They could have enjoyed the freedom. Abraham Lincoln rightly said, ”Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most.”

When we talk about school life, discipline plays a key role in developing the character of a person. A school is a hallowed ground that helps students build discipline and pushes them to strengthen it each day. Discipline helps one stay tranquil. It has a constructive impact on a student’s educational achievements

Discipline is like music, the more you train yourself, the stronger you become. It is a technique of being truthful, hardworking and is to be pursued all through life. Being disciplined is not a matter of choice, rather it is mandatory to possess. Discipline equips students with all the positive attributes. Discipline enhances the development of the body and mind. It encourages students to remain active, healthy and energetic. A disciplined student always focuses on the task at hand and completes it within the given deadline. Discipline keeps the students stress-free during exams or daily routine work and they eventually become the top performers in the school. Good discipline generates a positive attitude towards society. It creates confidence and eagerness among the students to do something great. Such students become role model and set an excellent example for others. Education without discipline is incomplete.

Discipline drives the world. Students are the future leaders. For a leader to do his work with an unerring sense, discipline is must. In a nutshell, “Life without discipline is just like a ship without radar.” Discipline defines who you are. Make discipline your best friend and then see how the world gets drawn to you.
